Weight Loss Wednesday Quick Check-In

Y’all…..

That is my moved-recently-to-the-south daughter’s new way of getting my attention when she has something quick to say and she’s in a hurry. Well, that is definitely me today, so….

Y’all….

I don’t want to miss giving you a place to check in for the week and let us know the progress you are making or the ways you need prayer in your weight loss journey. However, I have no clever advice or pertinent topic to ponder today.

No ma’am. All I have today on my plate is STRESS!!!

I leave in the morning for my biggest conference of the year. My new talk is not polished. My power point presentations are no where near done. (That is what happens when you are techy-challenged and have to go to your youth pastor to get a Power Point for Dummies course just before leaving–thanks Pastor Chad!)

I spent a night in ER with my son that ended Monday at 5:00 am. He and his brother needed to leave for a homeschool ski trip at 6:00 am. I haven’t packed. I haven’t prepeared food for when I’m gone for four days (but did dig up a whole mess of fast food coupons. They’ll probably like that better than homemade pot pie left in the fridge for them). I need to go to the bank. Inventory my books. Learn how to use my new credit card machine………

Oh, yeah….and today is my birthday.

Seriously.

I almost forgot.

So…hop on today and let us know how you are doing.

And if you have any advice for keeping away from the junk food when under extreme stress and time crunches, I know of at least one gal who’d be delighted if you shared!

Comment away and I’ll see you next week!

  1. I’ve been surfing on-line more than 3 hours lately, but I by no means discovered any fascinating article like yours.
It’s beautiful value enough for me. Personally, if
all web owners and bloggers made good content
as you probably did, the internet can be a lot
    more helpful than ever before.

  2. Well I just stumbled across this site while researching Karen for a upcoming event. I seen to have to play around with the same 10 lbs every year and I am tired of it. I have a new weight goal of 10lbs to lose and then maintain it.
how many woman out there are like me you are at a acceptable weight but still have a few pounds to lose
but get discouraged by remarks “oh you don’t need to lose weight” or your always encouraging others but don’t get any
encouragement in return. I am happy to see this site and
look forward to being part of Weight Loss Wednesdays
and am committed to praying for the group.

  3. Woohoo! I lost a pound and a half since last Wednesday! Thanks for the encouragement that I get from y’all!

  4. How refreshing, to have web help for christian women who struggle with this!!
I am….the dr says it is the end of menopause, that my weight is going up, and the inches are at my waist! I have been trying to lose, since I retired in may09, and haven’t been successful! now, I have a wedding coming in aug 10 for our daughter, and I can’t even go look at dresses, let alone buy one! I pray on my face for help.
I will use this website much! thank you!

  5. This is to Connie a few posts above. You really have a lot on your plate. I will say a prayer for you. I am not an expert on prayer or anything else for that matter, but may I suggest that when you pray you pray for things that you are willing to go through a tough test on. What I mean is if you ask for patience the Lord will test your patience in order for you to grow in that area of your life. You may want to ask him for some peace and tranquility to help you handle your stress. Ask for wisdom in how to handle difficulties and a desire to refuse unhealthy foods. I have learned that writing down my prayers help me to pray better also. God is always with us.

  6. Hi, my name is Patty & I struggle with my weight so I found this site & thought I’d give it a try. More is accomplished with someone to talk to.I’m just starting my changes & need to start exercising, so I need lots of encouragement!!! God says take care of this temple so that is what I want to do. Thanks for listening & I will check back. May God Bless You!!!!!

  7. Thanks Karen for your encouragement today message.
I would also like to lose 50lbs. I really believe God wants us
to be healthy and happy. We are Kings kids. We need to have
control over our bodies, they are the temple of the Holy Ghost.
I am quoting the scripture “I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me.” Best of luck everyone, lets take 1 meal at a time :)

  8. I am a wife and mother of three sons. I am overweight and I have high blood pressure. I need to lose about 90 pounds. I have been struggling with my weight for way to long. I have an addiction to food especially junk food. I have not been a good example to my children when it comes to making healthy food choices. Thanks for making this support group that will help me and others to glorify God by disciplining our bodies to be in the best shape possible.
    God bless from Shawna

  9. I am with you Mary. I am 72 and also a retired nurse. While I don’t have diabetes, I do have RA and need to lose.about 20 pounds. Doesn’t sound like much, but when you are only 5’3”, it’s too much. I have not blogged before, so this is new but I am so blessed with the Proverb 31 articles and wanted the extra chains, so here I am.
Thanks and God bless all of you

  10. WELL, I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD BE DOING THIS, BUT, I GUESS THIS FELL INTO MY LAP FOR A REASON. YOU SEE, I NEED TO LOOSE 75-100 POUNDS. I AM 56 AND IT IS GETTING HARDER AND HARDER FOR ME TO DO, I START AND QUICKLY LOOSE INTEREST. I START TO FEEL SORRY FOR MYSELF BECAUSE OF MY PROBLEMS AND TURN TO FOOD!!! THEN, I GET ANGRY WITH MYSELF AND IT IS JUST LIKE ONE BIG ROLLER COASTER RIDE…….KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT ? YOU SEE, MY HUSBAND IS 68 AND HAS ALZHEIMERS AND I HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING NOW. I HAVE A PART TIME JOB, MAKE A FEW DOLLARS TO HELP OUT WITH BILL, AND WE ARE SOOOO STRUGGLING, BUT I HAVE TO KEEP ON A HAPPY FACE FOR HIS SAKE. I DO PRAY FOR PATIENCE AND GUIDANCE AND I KNOW I WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THINGS, WITH GOD’S HELP, BUT, SOME DAYS ARE JUST SOOOO HARD. I AM NOT ONE TO TALK ABOUT THINGS AND I DO KEEP THINGS LOCKED UP INSIDE OF ME. SINCE I CLICKED ON TO THIS WEB, THIS COULD BE THE ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS, AND I CAN TALK FREELY ABOUT THINGS. I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT MY WEIGHT AND SOON….GETTING OFF THIS EXTRA WEIGHT WILL MAKE ME FEEL BETTER, BREATH BETTER AND MOVE BETTER. I JUST NEED TO GET ON THE BALL AND GET STARTED. PLEASE PRAY FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND AND LET’S GET ME STARTED ON LOOSING WEIGHT.
THANK YOU TO GOD FOR PUTTING YOU IN MY SIGHTS
    GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

  11. I’m In!!!!!!!!! Thanks Karen for this opportunity to help me loose the 15 pounds I lost and have put back on through emotional eating. My God bless us all on this weight loss journey and lead us to our goals. Thanks again, Beth in CT

  12. I found your site quite by accident. I have been “struggling” (insert post-poned obedience) with my weight for a long time. I’m not even sure what I need to lose because I’m not even sure what a “healthy weight” is. But I know I need to lose a lot. I’ve been praying and finding your group is certainly an answer to that prayer. God Bless all of you on this Weight Loss Journey.
