Spring Decor Giveaway

I love when the seasons change.

Okay, with an ice storm and 30 degree weather still here in Mid-Michigan I’m not sure spring actually got the memo that this past Sunday was its official first day. However, I am gonna think positive and offer a spring decor giveaway anyway!

Here is a peek into a little of our spring decor. (If you click on any of the images, they will enlarge.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Our fireplace mantle. Most of the decor came from last year’s clearance section of TJ Maxx. :-)
Our dining room table complete with the cross our neighbor Ryan made when he was 5. He is now a 25 year-old father & a soldier in the US army. (If you’ve heard me tell the story of the little boy and his hand-me-down Schwinn bike, that was Ryan!)
The starting of my herb garden—basil & parsley—perched on my kitchen sink, along with a 75% off scarlet mini-rose leftover from Valentines Day. It will go perfect in our fairy garden of miniature plants.
I’ll spare you the picture of the pastel plastic chicken the boys have on the basement coffee table in their man cave. When you press his head, he lays a jelly bean!!
Now, to inspire one of you to get your spring on, here is this weekend’s giveaway. It includes:
~Some Bath & Body Works thick hand cream in my signature spring scent~ Butterfly Flower. (Yes, I have a scent for each season just like I usually only burn candles that smell like the current season too! I’m weird like that.)
~Speaking of candles, it also includes two wax melting tarts from Yankee candle in the scent ‘splash of spring’.
~ A bag of Choxie dark & milk chocolate caramels
~ A $10 Target card for you to purchase a new spring decor item for your home.
~A personalized copy of my hospitality book A Life That Says Welcome: Simple Ways to Open Your Heart & Home to Others. Lot of decorating ideas in there and some spring cleaning & de-junking methods too!
One winner will be selected from those who leave a comment on this post. So, tell us–how do you like to decorate for spring? Or if time is tight, simply say, “I’m in!” Winner will be chosen randomly.
Well, I’m headed out-of-state to my son’s baseball games.
I’ll be the one on the sideline, sipping a hot latte, yelling for the team & trying not to freeze!
Sweet Blessings,
    I love decorating for the different seasons and holidays. I have a huge village set that is all pastel colors with bunnies and flowers. I even have a spring wreath that hangs on our front door. I haven’t pulled any of it out yet. This post has inspired me to get my village out and make the house look like spring.
    I absolutely Love spring. After a long, hard, cold, snowy winter and it seems as I age it gets worse. I did try at the start of winter try to really think of positive things about winter. That would be the beautiful scenery that the snow blankets with all its glittery shine! But for spring… what is there not to like? The birds returning and singing, the budding of the trees, the beautiful flowers, the green green grass, No more coats, all the new baby animals being born, tractors in the field, gardens being planted, and the absolute best.. the Easter promise of HE IS RISEN !! HE IS RISEN INDEED!!
    I always enjoy seeing pictures of your beautiful home! I really like how you decorated your mantlepiece; I have such a desire in my heart to have a home with a fireplace/mantlepiece one day to be able to decorate with pictures.
    I’m very “season-oriented” too; to the extent that even hand soap in our house is season-based (warm vanilla sugar in the winter; fruity ones in the spring/summer; pumpkin or apple in the fall). I also like to rearrange things in the house when a new season comes; it’s very strange I know but it gives me a sense of actual change. Also, since the spring represents new birth for me and is my favorite season for that reason I try to get something to visually remind me of that like a potted plant (my husband bought me an orchid this week which was perfect for that purpose!).
    I just want to take a minute to say I love your generous/giving spirit. Your giveaways have really encouraged me to look for more opportunities to give to others. Love and blessings, Karen :)
We love having fresh flowers all over our house in the spring (by ‘we’ I mean my daughters and I – the men in our house really don’t even notice:)) Thanks for the post – I’m going to get out all of my spring decorations today (I believe every single one I have is from TJ’s! Love that place) and then head to Horrocks with the girls to pick out some flowers! Have fun at the games – our family will be cheering soon as well!
    How do I decorate for spring? Well, as a wife, and mom of a very busy teenage girl, my decorating style is simple: instead of coats, raingear, and a backpack spread about in the den, I have shorts, t-shirts, softball equipment (complete with muddy cleats to round out the look!) and a backpack! It’s fun to change out for the seasons, isn’t it? And as messy as it is, I wouldn’t change a thing!
    Enjoy your baseball games. This is the first year my sons will not be playing little league because they are playing high school soccer. I enjoyed the 2-4 hours (when they had back to back games) just sitting in the shade, drinking cold drinks and reading. (A reprieve from the house and kitchen) Now I will be sitting in stadiums and under an umbrella from the sun or rain.
    We thought spring had sprung here in Missouri but today we are with you Karen with sleet and freezing rain. What happened to the spring? I looked outside to be sure my daffodils were still standing and sure enough they were bravely looking for the sun!
    I love to decorate for the seasons too and my house generally holds lots of color in the springtime! I have a gorgeous color-blocked table runner and then I like to pick a few flowers to put in a vase (lilacs are my fav) or put a small plant on the table. Spring is full of new life so anything green is a reminder of the New Life we have in Christ.
    Blessings!
    I love, and love to celebrate the seasons by changing up things in my home. So far I’ve changed my quilt back to my spring/summer quilt that boasts differing shades of soft blues and greens on a ivory background and added all of coordinating pillows, throws, potpourri, etc. I don’t have a lot of nicknacks that I switch out or put out, mostly I just ‘lighten’ here and there and work on veggie and flower containers on my patio where I enjoy sitting and reading.
    Spring and Fall are my two favorite seasons and here in Kernersville NC the blooms are in full swing (as is the pollen!) so despite a small battle with allergies I am in full i.love.spring swing as well!
    And I love the bowls on your table! :)
    On our mantel are spring candles and stuffed bunnies, but directly under a Thomas Kincaid picture of the cross. My 12 year old son helped me take a large planter saucer, put dirt in it and plant grass seed, then made a stick cross which we placed behind a rock tomb. I saw this idea on one of the blogs I read and we thought it was beautiful. On Easter morning, roll the stone away from the empty tomb!
    I love your spring decorating ideas Karen. I’ve never much been into decorating for the seasons – I really don’t like to mess with getting stuff out and then putting it away. I might have to start perusing the clearance racks for some things to use next year. I usually just decorate with the kids easter baskets when it gets closer to that time.
    I’m also in Michigan and not enjoying the fact that I still have to scrape my windshield to go to work in the AM – But trying to find joy in the fact that at least there is not snow on the ground or ice in the trees! Oh Spring come quickly!
    I actually do not decorate very much for spring or summer. Only a few knick-knacks that I get out. My fav for spring is a ceramic basket, with pastel eggs around it, it goes on the kitchen table. Have a few bunny decorations that I like to put out too! Enjoying reading everybody’s decor ideas!
    I’ve never been much of a decorator when it comes to seasons and holidays. I think mostly because of our lack of storage space. I will say my mother-in-law is great at bringing me fresh flowers when she comes up to visit. Maybe this year will be the year.
    Karen, This year I announced it was time to pull the spring stuff out to decorate. My husband informed me he hates bunnies (all my stuff involves bunnies!). So this year, it is very simple – forsythia in apothecary jars on my mantle! I need some new spring that doesn’t involve little furry creatures!
Praying for a quick sale so we can move to a town that is 40 minutes away…that is where we have faithfully attended church for the past 4 1/2 years and we are excited to see God open doors as He has called us to move into the community and serve!
My fav thing to do is to bring in some forsythia and hang my Easter ornaments on it. Happy Spring and the Happiest of Easters too! God bless.
    Spring is definitely in the air here in Florida along with a lot of sneeze-inducing pollen but that means warmer weather and longer days of sunshine :) I like bringing out the pastels, especially pink. I’m not a huge fan of green, except as it grows on the trees in the spring, but do love to ‘lighten’ the house with lighter shades of blue and purple. Our sofa is 16 yrs old and dark blue so is pretty much the focal point of the living area so I just try to lighten the room up a bit! Works for me!!!
    Spring is so awesome. It brings on signs of new beginnings and fresh starts. We have already had temperatures in the 70’s & 80’s. And now this weekend the weather is calling for a wintry mix, which is not at all unusual for this area. For spring I put the Bunny hanging on the front door. I put out my ladybugs on metal sticks in the the shrubbery and plants. I also like to hang a windsock from the tree out front and hang the wind chimes on the back porch. I also try to place a bird house or two around.
Then I like to have spring flowers out on the porch so I can be welcomed home by the colorful pretty blooms. Inside I like to Spring clean and “dejunk”. I love clean simply decorated spaces with a lived in look where its comfy but not sterile. For seasonal decoration I have a bunny and lamb collection that comes out and I love to reflect on Jesus’ Resurrection and what that means in my life.     So happy Spring has arrived here in South Carolina. It was an unusually long and cold winter here for us “Southerners.”
    I like to bring out my bright spring colored plates and add festive ribbons to all of my wreaths. With forsythia, wisteria, dogwood, and daffodils abloom, there is not much need for further decoration on the outside.
    I feel Spring is a time of rebirth and enjoy seeing every morning what new color pallete the Lord has added to my landscape. It gives me such great joy to see His handiwork in the Spring as well as all of the seasons.
The colorful flowers and the hyacinths, my favorite, make me smile. I start wearing flip flops and capris…and just feel free. My favorite service of the church year is Easter.     Easter usually kicks me into gear for decorating for spring.
    This year we have a Resurrection Tree, maybe we should call it a Resurrection shrub because we are using a very beautifl, bloomed Forsynthia shrub as the “tree”. Adorned with Easter ornaments that the kids paint/color and pertain to the season.
    The Forsynthia was such a hit I am now potting other spring time flowers and placing them throughout the home.
    I can really say the house does look & smell like spring :) And I will especially need it to because this weekend we are expecting snow in Old Virginia!
    whoo hoo! for Spring, sun, and bright colors!
    all of my life I’ve been a neutral-colored-kind-of-girl. now that I live in Alaska, with its cold seasons and foot-draggin’ Spring, and now that I have a house full of little boys fighting dark moods and dark days… i’m slowly learning to throw color into my heart and home!
    i love you ideas. i need all the help i can get! :)
    LOL regarding the Michigan weather! My Mom is visiting me from Ann Arbor and we no ALL to well about Michigan weather! Well, I live in Atlanta, GA and my new Spring tradition is getting outside and planting an herb and veggie garden. I have conducted online research and I think (pray) that I can do. My daughter (7) is excited to help with the gardening. I also air out the entire house by cleaning and opening all the windows. :-)
    Our grandchildren were here last weekend so that was a good time to get out the Easter decorations and let them have at it. Small Easter tree for the breakfast table with little bunnies, eggs, etc. Dining room table has assorted bunnies collected over the years and a large basket filled with candy. Of course I use the special Easter linens too. Would love to win this giveaway.
    I love to get flowers from Trader Joe’s to help brighten up the house. They have great deals for $3.99. Who doesn’t like some pretty roses or Gerber Daisies that just ooze spring. Love to open the windows and let the spring air circulate and watch the sun fill up the rooms. Looking forward to seeing the first blooms burst forth on the trees. The Crochets are already up and the daffodils- Spring is in the air. The winter has passed, behold the spring has come. Sorry to hear that you are dealing with an ice storm- have a blessed weekend Karen.
    When spring comes around I start cleaning, everything I haven’t used in a while goes to charity or in the trash. I like to keep things simple or else I defeat the perpose of cleaning out and everything looks and feels cluttered. I try to use what I already have and change them up a bit to give them a new look. I alos look at new trends and try to buy something I can tie in with what I have. So far this year I am please with what I’ve done and will soon be ready to relax and enjoy the Spring wether.
    I start with an Easter egg wreath that I made for the porch. Then change flowers to daffodils and lilacs. I went to a quilt show and found adorable bunnies and flower pot material, so I’m excited about working on a new wallhanging for above the piano. I also have a grapevine cross that my mom decorated for me with purple tulle and white lillies. It sets the season! Thanks for the reminder that I haven’t done any of this yet and I’m running a bit behind ;)
    It is Autumn here but still quite hot most of the time. We don’t buy our chocolate eggs too early or they’ll melt (even though they have been in the shops since late January!)
    I decorate our Easter table with a glass bowl full of chocolate eggs and find the scrunched up foil from them in the weirdest places for a month afterwards!
    Hello,
    Spring is a bittersweet time of year for me. My beautiful little girl Melony was born on April 20. Just two years later and two weeks after her birthday, she ate 1/2 of an Easter egg she found and died within 15 hours. She would be 37 this year, and oh how I still miss her…
    Easter is also a reminder of how our sweet Lord Jesus gave his life for us, and rose again, so we can be with him and those we love again in heaven. God bless you all as we enter into the beautiful Spring time once again :)
We have moved this year and now i have to find the beauty of spring here and i know i will..there is such a freshness about spring and a new beginning. I thank God for all His blessings and for the seasons of beauty that we can appricate so much. Thanks for your blog. Everything i read it makes me think about things differently.
