At that stage of life, the quiet times are few and far between. So my time with God is usually prayers as I wake up and prayers as I go to sleep with a few email devotionals in between. When I had more time, I would do bible studies in the mornings alternating with other books.

I love to sit in our “nook”. We have a sun porch off the dining room, with windows on three sides. I have an easy chair with an ottoman in there and I can close the door and just breathe. It’s the perfect spot to sit with my bible and my devotional…or my current bible study materials. Even though it’s only a french door between the nook and the dining room, I feel somehow apart from the rest of the house…and it’s just God and me in that room!

I love to write in my journal – thanking Him for all He is doing in my life; to read Jesus Calling and reflect on the scriptures for the day. I’ve been reading Proverbs 31 daily e-mails for years (I can’t even tell you how many) and I tell everyone I know about them. I love messages on tape to listen to in the car and also read and listen Christian fiction. It’s incredible how He will speak to me if I will just seek and listen.

I LOVE to listen to KLOVE before and/or after my alone, “quiet” time with the Lord!! I think of it as preparing my heart… and I love the verse in the Bible about “enter into His courts with Praise”. I usually do use a devotional book to help lead my quiet time, because I find that whatever book that I’m reading, God has already placed into my path for just the right time I’ve needed it!!! Sometimes, though, I will feel led to just read the Bible. Since I still feel somewhat immature and “weak’ in my spiritual walk with the Lord, I don’t know the best of ways to really study God’s word, but on the days God’s led me to *just read* His word, He always, ALWAYS provides spiritual discernment as well!! Its sooooo amazing!! I’m so thankful for this awesome gift!! I love to have my quiet time with God outdoors, weather permitting, because I’m surrounded by HIS beautiful nature and creation, and its where not just my body~ but where my soul~ can truly breathe!! I am sooooo looking forward to getting my hands on THIS new devotional!! I just KNOW this will be such a blessing!! Thank you for this opportunity!! May God continue to bless you and your ministry!!

They draw me in, make me think of my life and my God differently than I did before. I also love to jam out to Christian music in the car–we have SiriusXM radio, so The Message is on in my car often, or the kids’ music of Go Fish or Denver and the Mile High Orchestra on CD. I try to find at least a few minutes to just sit in quiet with Him daily, too.

I will sit in the backyard with the music quietly playing just on the other side of my livingroom window in ear shot. I often praise God for the beauty around me, bring up prayer requests for friends and family and sometimes just sit with my eyes shut, sun on my face and just listen to the sounds created by God— trees rustling in the breeze, dogs and a multiple varieties of animals you can hear in the distance. I have a few friends that read the same chapter of the bible to hold me accountable to read God’s word. I also read a daily devotion from Celebrate Recovery daily devotion coming out in December of this year. (I have a sample 30 days) and my favorite is from What happens when women say yes to God.

I have so been working on this. I’m trying to strengthen my relationship with God. Lately, I have been waking a little earlier in the morning & taking a few quiet moments before the rest of the house wakes up to thank God for what I am thankful for, to ask for his guidance with the things that I am struggling with & to ask that he look over certain special people who may need a little more than what we can give them. I like that it is quiet. I might have to start thinking about other ways that I can extend this.

One challenge I have is to “Be Still and Know that I am God”. I have to make a conscious effort, and still my mind may wander. One thing I do love to add are the ‘OLD’ hymns on YouTube. George Beverly Shea singing In the Garden or How Great Thou Art reminds me of simpler days and stills my mind of making lists. I would love the new book of Devotionals and thank you for your generous giving.

I love to sit quietly and read devotions or the Bible. Such peace comes over me at these times. Since I am in the later years of my life, I can listen to praise and worship music while I am doing my chores with no interruptions. My kids are all grown so I have a lot of time to stay focused on my Heavenly Father. My mother passed away last week so my devotions are extra comforting to me at this time.

Looks like such a lovely book of devotions Jesus is so kind to lead me to devotionals They are such guidelines to usher in His voice & love :) I use the ACTS method most days before I read my Buble & pray A=You adore Him & say all His beautiful names & C=.Confess your sins & repent T= Enter into His courts of thanksgiving & thank Jesus for everything you can think of Then S = Is your supplication of prayer requests I love doing ACTS as it covers everything! I love to sit outside in my adirondack chair under my patio cover A huge walnut tree is in front of me with many dones & squirrels. & cardinals I have to watch I can stay there too long but too long is never enough with Jesus

I need peace and quiet for my time with GOD. Currently,I work on a Bible study on prayer during my devo time. However, each morning I read the P31 devo for the day and the print version of the radio broadcast. I am also reading a book on comfort and will hopefully soon, start a book recommended to me on boundaris in marriage. Most important for me is my prayer time. During this period of trial God is my c.f. comfort,my father, my only hope and source of wisdom.

If my time is in the car KLove is on. Morning time I’m reading all the emails I get from the wonderful women at P31. Evening time it’s the bible the journal and quiet time to reflect. If I get a moment of quiet outside time I code my eyes and focus on sounds of nature the smells and quiet my mind as it floats away from the daily grind and listen for Him

I usually start my day with a cup of coffee and reading “God Calling” by AJ Russell. I have been reading this devotional for most of the past 15 years. I also enjoy my daily reading of Diamonds in the Dust by Joni Eareckson Taxa. Then I either pull out The Word Among Us for the daily mass readings and meditations or my current Bible study book (right now it is Julie Gillies “Prayer For a Woman’s Soul), Bibles and my journal. My real “quiet ” times take place in my car on my way to work or anywhere…sometimes listening to KLove or sometimes in silence. My day ends as I relax reading Proverbs31 devotions, ladies’ blogs or more Bible study…but my favorite time of all is on Friday nights from 11:00 pm to 1:00 am as I spend time in the Lord’s Presence in Eucharistic Adoration where I can just be with Him…I fondly call it “Hanging out with the Lord!” I often dream that I could just spend every waking moment with my Triune God…what a dream fulfilled that would be! Sorry to go on so long but spending time with my Lord Jesus is very important to me! God bless you all!

I set my iphone timer to 10 minutes. I take those few minutes to let God speak to me. With Bible and pen and paper in hand, I write or read scripture or sometimes the page may say “Be Still” Ten minutes was a struggle at first for me to stay focused but now it goes too quickly. This time is so refreshing to me. I cherish these moments.

I like to listen to praise and worship music. I find it super convenient, esp. as a background music at work, and then I noticed my mind manages to record on the ‘backburner’ what I listened to, so later on I end up humming some of the songs, which keeps my mind on God :) Sitting quiet so far has not worked out for me because then my mind starts spinning 1000 thoughts, and I feel like it defeats the purpose of spending time with God.

Besides spending time in prayer and using a couple different Bible study plans, I have been keeping a Blessings Journal for the past few years. I started it when I was going through an extended, particularly grievous, time of difficulty with my oldest child. As I saw her spiritual life spiraling downhill, I found myself wallowing in self pity. I admit that I found it difficult to thank God for anything because I could only focus on what I considered “the bad”. I decided to make a list every morning of the blessings God gave me on the previous day. It it a good source of reflection and can open my eyes with wonder and my mouth with praise!

I’m experimenting with different things at different times. I find it is hard to be still in my mind so I’m practicing sitting or laying in the quiet without any music. I do some soaking prayer where I listen for God and soak in His presence with soft instrumental worship or Taize music playing. I also journal where I reflect on something I read or heard, ask God questions and write His responses down. I love how He meets me in these practices and so many other moments during my day.

OK. So first thing in the morning I log onto Facebook. I type out the next verses I am in in the Bible. God told me to type the Bible onto Facebook and it took me a year before I was obedient and started. I think it is going to take me a long time, I am only in Numbers right now. Then Our church has a prayer calendar where every family in our church has a day, and a few extra days we pray for other things. So I pray on Facebook for whoever day it is. A lot of our congregation uses my facebook page to see who we are praying for. Then I list the chapters to read in the Bible to read the Bible in a year. I get them from Elizabeth Georges website. Love her. And then I tell a little about what I am doing that day. Then I go sit on the toilet and read my Bible chapters for the day in the quiet away from the children and the hustle and bustle of my house. Stop laughing now. Giggle.
