5 Fantabulous Things {to check out this weekend}

Ahhhhhh……another summer weekend.

For us this weekend holds the wedding of a young woman who is like a second daughter to us. Our biological daughter Kenna is the Maid of Honor {they met at church camp in early high school}. And then on Sunday, my daughter and I will help put on a bridal shower for our soon-to-be niece. Kenna will trek home to Michigan from her home in North Carolina and her boyfriend, who lives in Chicago, will be joining us too.

What does your weekend hold? If you are not flitting about from family function to family function like me, check out these great ideas, resources, and even a new fav recipe below.

1. Women Living Well Book Club over at Time Warp Wife

This fab series has already kicked off but it isn’t too late to catch up or to just read the posts at your own pace. Courtney Joseph’s book Women Living Well is a great guide for loving God, your husband, your kiddos and loving your homemaking too whether you are employed inside or outside of the home or–if like me–you work from home. Check it out here.

2. My new favorite kitchen gadget

I love tea. Hot tea. Iced tea. {My favorite summertime tea is steeping equal parts of lemon and mint herb tea and adding a touch of stevia}. This gadget was totally worth the six bucks I paid at the grocery store. Tea lovers will use it often. Your welcome.

3. A stroll in God’s creation

My husband and I took my 84-year old mother in law to her favorite nature center this week. She hadn’t been there in over a decade. It was on the banks of the St. Joseph River near this center where my husband popped the question over 28 years ago. 4. Proverbs 31 Ministries President Lysa TerKeurst’s new book coming soon!!!

book_smMy friend Lysa, who is perhaps one of the wisest women I know, is releasing what I think is her best book evvvv-ah!! {I’m serious!}

I got a sneak peek as she was writing it and have read the finished advanced copy. It releases August 12, is available for pre-order now and she is giving away all kinds of cool stuff with it.

It is called The Best Yes and it will empower you to make wise decisions in the midst of endless demands. It will help you stop being a people pleaser. Or to stop procrastinating when making a decision because you fear it will be the wrong one.

I’m telling you….this book will help you quit second guessing your decisions and confidently live life as you discover how to align your choices with God’s word. Pre-order today!!! {click here for The Best Yes website}

5. My boys’ new favorite no-bake cookie

photo-47Ok…fully intended to have both a pic of the finished product cooling on the wax paper-lined pan AND one of some of the cookies in my quaint glass cookie jar with the chalkboard label adorned all darling-like in my whimsical handwriting, sporting the words “Peanut Butter No Bakes”.

HOWEVER, when I went to snap a shot a mere hours after placing said goodies in cookie jar….there were only two left!!!! {Please note that I myself ate NONE! However, my hubby, two boys, and several of their friends all had crumbs on their fingers and smiles on their faces!}

Enjoy your weekend! What are you up to? Any new recipes, resources, or ideas you’d like to share with us? I’d love to hear them.

  1. Since I am recovering from surgery this past Thursday I am confined to my recliner except for walking a little bit each hour. My plan for today is to try to read the first 40 pages of “Am I Messing Up My Kids” I am also looking forward to seeing my mom,she is flying in tonight and will be with me for the next two weeks.

  2. I am with Kate. I would love the recipe. We love no bake cookies at our house, but my son isn’t a huge fan of chocolate. He would love these.
