GIVEAWAYS! It’s HOODWINKED Launch Day!

Moms have been hoodwinked—tricked into believing lies that keep them from not only enjoying motherhood, but forging friendships with other moms who might tackle the tasks of motherhood differently. Hoodwinked: Ten Myths Moms Believe and Why We All Need To Knock It Off by Karen Ehman and Ruth Schwenk. There is also a 6-session video Bible study available for group or individual use. Check it out!Psst…

want to know the secret for being a great mom?

Think she keeps house like June Cleaver, cooks like a Food Network star, and actually does all of the things she pins to her Pinterest boards? Oh…and all while calmly raising her kids without ever raising her voice? Yeah….right.

Today is release day for my new book for moms: Hoodwinked: Ten Myths Moms Believe & Why We All Need to Knock It Off!

Ruth Schwenk  and I have had ENOUGH of the misconceptions of motherhood!!!

Myths such as: “The way I mother is the right (and only) way,” “Motherhood is natural, easy, and instinctive,” or “My child’s bad choice means I’m a bad mom.” These myths leave moms hoodwinked, and sometimes even heartbroken.

Hoodwinked Cover 2This encouraging, “we’ve been there” book will enable mothers to:

-Identify the ten myths of motherhood
-Replace the lies with the truth of what God says
-Forge healthy, supportive relationships with other moms of all ages and stages
-Confidently embrace the calling of motherhood as they care for their families in their own unique way

Ultimately, Hoodwinked equips mothers to stop searching for the secret and develop and embrace their relationships instead- with their kids, other mothers, and most importantly, with God.

  1. What do I love about being a mom? I love that feeling when you see your 3 year old stand up and sing in church for the Christmas program and suddleny in that instant you feel the true meaning of “takes your breath away”. Then it happens again when he’s on the kindergarten stage accepting his end of the year award. And then again and again countless times throughout the years as you proudly watch your little boy grow into an amazing young man!
Watching them grow, it’s truly amazing, it has been my pleasure!

  2. I love being a mom because…hmmm, I can’t even pinpoint what I love about being a mom. I just know I’d always wanted to be one when I was growing up. I’ve been one for 15 1/2 years (with 4 kids in tow now) but haven’t taken time in the last 4 years to remember what I DO love about being a mom…I’ve been so overwhelmed and tired. Just being honest with my here and now, but right now I love when they’re all getting along and I have enough energy left to do something fun with them. :/

  3. I love being a mom to my six boys. All their personalities are different and they are all unique. This morning, I was sad because they were rushing and left for school and didn’t say “bye mom.” I know it probably never crossed their mind that I got upset, but I got my feelings hurt. I stepped back and thought about how many times I may of done that to them, I vow to do better and control my actions so not to hurt my children, with my words or the absence of them.

  4. i love being a mom for many reasons, but I would say watching them grow into Godly people is my favorite part. I can’t wait to do this study with all of you!

  5. I love being a mom. I love being a grandma even more <3 I try to be an encouragement to young moms and I think this book would definitely help.

  6. Was looking through all the comments and thought I had? Couldn’t find it, so trying again.
What I love about being a Mom is God choosing me to be a Mom to my 4 kids. Being a Mom has challenged me and helped me to learn a lot and without God I don’t know how I could be a Mom? Getting to be a foundation they can always come back to, being a part of molding and shaping their lives. It really is a huge responsibility and privilege…so grateful for my 4 blessings in all the good and hard things.

  7. I love that as a Mom I can show my boys the love of Jesus, how to view people with empathy instead of anger, and how they can make a difference in another’s life.

  8. Being a mom makes me depend more on God: His wisdom, strength, guidance, direction, patience and unconditional love. I thank the Lord for my kids and for the privilege of raising them. It’s not easy but with God on my side, I can do all things! I love my kids so much and it’s very heart-warming/melting thing when they lavish you back with love in their own special (sometimes silly/funny) ways. :-) I thank God for them everyday and it’s my prayer that as they grow up, they’ll learn to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind and strength!

  9. My favorite thing about being a mom is that now that my oldest is a mom we are friends. I am developing that friendship with my 15 year old right now also. My favorite job is being a mom. Really enjoy it!

  10. This is so Exciting , I Love Being a Mom , To God’s Blessings to me I have 5 Kids that God Blessed me with ?????

  11. I love knowing I’ve poured my heart & soul into my kids and that God knows this & is sovereign over all my good intentions!! Glory hallelujah!

  12. I love being a mom and watching my children turn into who they are going to be. It’s fun (most of the time!) to see quirks of their father’s or my personalities within their own.

  13. What I love most about being a mom is watching each one of my 4 kids grow, learn, develop, and become their own person. Watching them reach milestones, learn to walk and talk, start school and learn to read and handle new social situations, watching as their team wins a first place soccer trophy, and watching as their identities develop and their unique personalities unfold. The best part is knowing that God allowed me to help form them in my body and I get to help shape them into awesome people!

  14. My most favorite thing about being a mom is when my 15 year old taller than me son comes and hugs me and tells me he loves me at random times…without my prompting.

  15. I love the sweet scrumptious hugs they can seem to deliver at all the rights times and the overwhelming warm sensation of gratitude and love they can give you by just looking at their faces. Miracles indeed.

  16. My babes have left the nest, which has left me with time to reflect. I was blessed to have a wise grandmother in law and many neighbor women of all ages when I was raising my children. It really does take a village and so many young mothers don’t have that anymore. I also believe women tend to be very hard on themselves and one another. We need to be strong supporters of one another.

  17. There is no greater joy than having the opportunity to help raise children who become members of society who give back to others and who live their lives loving Jesus and loving others well.

  18. I love lots of things about being a mom, but two things tie for my fav:
    1. I love that becoming a mom taught me how much my precious mom loves me.
    2. I love when my sweet baby girl reaches for me – every single time it’s like God is telling me I am truly loved and desired.

  19. I’ve been seeing this book everywhere, and now you’re really making me HAVE to read it! Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
