Welcome to those who have clicked your way over after reading my Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion How to Scatter Unusual Kindness(If you haven’t read it yet, click here to do so.)

In the devotion, I talked about how our acts of kindness can morph into the unusual category to make someone else’s day and yours too! This is the message of my Listen Love Repeat book. I hope you will join us as we study what God’s Word has to say about scattering kindness at Proverbs 31 Ministries Online Bible Studies starting on Monday.

  1. I collect used magazines from doctor and dentist offices along with family and friends. Then I take them to homeless shelters. Last time I dropped off some magazines a woman came up to me and said “you have no idea how a magazine helps eliminate boredom.” I also purchase small bibles at the dollar store and include them along with the magazines. People can choose what they like or need.

Sometimes I add a plastic cup full of candy to sit next to the basket of magazines. Doesn’t everyone deserve a treat??

  2. I often struggle with feeling less then, like I’m not making any progress in my walk. Recently I served at a retreat and one of the women I serve with, at the end of the retreat, came over to me, cupped my face in her hands so I was looking at her face and she said. “Nancy, I just want you to know how much you have grown and changed in the last year” then the director of the area I served in said “Yes, you have so much more joy” Thise simp,e words were such an amazing act of kindness that I needed hear. Never under estimate the value of kind words of encouragement. Cost nothing to give but priceless to the receiver!

  3. My Mother-in-law, who will be 90 this May, always shows unusual kindness. She treated me to lunch for my birthday recently and then a few days later she sent ME a thank you! She thanked me for bringing her flowers, which I always do when I visit (it cheers up her tiny one bedroom apartment) and for spending the TIME with her!! I will be sending HER a thank you note for all HER kindness! :-)

  4. I was an AmeiCorps volunteer alone in Oregon all the way from Indiana…a church I visited one time became my home after Pastor Ron and his wife Vicki welcomed me into their home as did many others. I became part of their families and I will never forget their love and unusual kindness!

  5. I have been having a hard time with Postpartum depression after having my 3rd baby.
Recently I’ve reconnected with an old friend from high school. She’s a great friend who is always lifting me up now.

Out of the blue the other day, she sent me a card in the mail, just because she knew I was struggling more with my ppd with a really sweet message in it. Even though it was a small gesture, she completely made my day.

  6. I have a special needs daughter who sometimes zaps me of my energy, my sanity and my joy. (No pity party, just the bare bones honest truth) I had the opportunity recently to get away for 3 days by myself for a little rejuvenation. A dear friend came over just as I was leaving town and brought me the most incredible hand lotion and a book called “Silence and Solitude”. Both were just what I needed and I drove away from it all! So grateful for special friendships like that!

    1. Oh Melinda, this fellow special needs momma needs to look for that book! What a wonderful act of unusual kindness!

  7. I have had so many blessings from total strangers (angels in disguise) Our God has blessed me in so many ways. A few months back, a couple of brothers that are very good friends of mine, but live in another state messaged me and out of the blue asked me can I get to a Walmart near me. Then asked do I have an idea. They told me to go to Walmart because they wanted to do something for me. I am a 7 year cancer survivor and I struggle daily with serious health issues from severe radiation damage and I am totally struggling financially. These brothers know me well so they are not strangers but they so totally overwhelmed me by blessing me with $. I got to that Walmart and they had sent me $350. I cried! Now, I am soon to be moving and have no idea how I will pay rent and eat, but I am trusting God to provide. Yes it is scary to me. Humanly, I am afraid I won’t make it, but my faith is in the God Who provides more than we could ever even think to ask. I have no idea how I will even be able to pay all my deposits and I will be moving in April or May depending on when I am able to get my deposits paid, it seems impossible and for me it is, but with God ALL things are possible to those who believe. I believe!
Thank You Father God. Thank You Lord Jesus and Thank you Holy Spirit for giving me strength and the faith to hold on to that belief!
