Hi friends, Amanda here! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could bottle up all the kind words anyone has ever said to us? On those terribly rotten days, we could reach into the jar and pull out a slip of paper with encouraging words that remind us of who we are?

Words are powerful and take root deep inside our hearts and minds.

Right now, my husband and I are experiencing with our daughters that stage between a child and a young woman. I clearly remember that age and the words I stored up in my heart and mind, words that affected me for a long time. Some encouraged me and some disheartened me. These years ahead of us will be a trying, tumultuous time for us and I wanted my girls to not only hear the words we say but to see them clearly written out.

I pulled some items from the depth of my crafting closet to create a jar of encouragement for my daughters. Nothing fancy or expensive. You can use whatever you have on hand to create your own special words of encouragement for a family member or friend, or even for yourself when you need a reminder of who you are.

I cut assorted sizes of various scrapbook papers. Depending on who your jar is for, you can write encouragement tailored specifically to that person or fill the slips of paper with Bible verses. I love variety so I chose my own words, Bible verses, and blessings.

Write or print on each slip of paper. If you choose to print, be sure to do that before cutting the slips of paper. Fold each paper and drop it into the jar until it’s filled. If using a mason jar with a screw top band, you can decorate the lid with a circle of scrapbook paper or cover the top with a square of cute fabric.

Tie a ribbon around the jar. Consider adding a customized gift tag or a sticker.

That’s all! Now, you have a lovely, thoughtful gift that only cost a little time to make it. I hope your jar of encouragement blesses someone this week.

Warmest Blessings,

Amanda
