Now, for my guest today and her giveaway:

Do you remember Valentine’s Day in high school?  Lynn Cowell, does!

Her passion is to empower girls and their moms with confidence and positive self-esteem that comes from Jesus’ radical love. See if you can relate…

I hated Valentine’s Day.

Most of all, I hated the annual flower fundraiser.

When that day started though, I was hopeful. Maybe there was someone who would use this day to express how he really felt about me.

First block, second block, lunch.

Nothing.

Fourth block…. Then “the flower girl” glided into our room.

She called my name! I saw it; the pink flower. SOMEONE wanted to ask me out!

My heart began to flutter. Then I saw who it was from. Really? Him?

For a brief second, I allowed myself to get excited.

Then reality kicked in.

“There’s no way this can be true.” He was popular; I was not. There’s no way he would want me.

I shoved the flower down in my backpack. I feared it wasn’t real, so I acted like it never happened.

Never knowing the truth was better than finding out it was a joke.

Since then I have discovered Jesus has chosen me; chosen a life for me. His plan is for him and me to live out life together with purpose and to make an eternal difference.

You too are chosen! You are not an accident; nor a mistake. You are a person of worth and purpose created by God.

When a girl is picked as the Homecoming queen, is she shy? Does she try to run away when they put the crown on her head?

No! She is confident and self-assured; you can be too. You are chosen!

Do you have a teen girl in your life who needs to know this truth? Consider sharing “His Revolutionary Love” with her for Valentine’s Day!

Today, one person will be chosen to receive a signed copy of “His Revolutionary Love” along with Lynn’s DVD from her “Revolutionary Love” teen conference.

Simply leave us a Valentine teen memory from your past (or perhaps one from your own teen’s life—with their permission, of course!)

Or, if time is tight because you are trying to get all your Valentine’s mailed, just say “I am chosen!”

Winner will be announced Monday.

Hope to see you at the party later today on Facebook!

  1. I didn’t enjoy Valentine’s Day as a teen, never feeling like I quite fit in. Now I know I am chosen! A dear friend suffering from a semi-herniated disc emailed me today thanking me for a book I gave her; she closed the email with “remember that Jesus loves you very much.” How precious she is and how precious HE IS!

  2. Every Valentine’s Day growing up, my dad left me a small heart shoped box of chocolate at my place at the dining room table. Even when I moved out, my dad would drop the same box on my porch with a note that simply said “Love Dad”. Many years later, I’m married and live further away. He still thinks of me by sending a card addressed to me and my husband with $5 in it to buy a chocolate heart shaped box for myself. I treasure this about him!

  3. Not really a Valentine’s memory but a teenage daughter one. My daughter is writing an essay on who she admires. I knew it was on the computer and knew it was about me but she wouldn’t let me read it. I peeked this a.m. and wow, I really am chosen. She said some very kind things and though it doesn’t always show in every day life that she appreciates me, she did in her paper. I am thankful for her and pray for God’s continued guidance as a Christian mom.

  4. I remember in grade school decorating a lunch bag and bringing it home filled with valentines cards from everyone in your class room.

  5. When I went to my car after teaching school on Valentine’s Day, there in the driver’s seat was a potted plant of beautiful lavendar flowers from my husband.

  6. Valentine’s Day growing up in school…was well less than exciting. I was never with anyone to get a valentine but my parents always made sure I knew that I was their valentine. My daughters are feeling the pressure now as they have gotten older and friends can decide whether or not to give them a valentine or not. Not like in grade school where everyone got one in the class. In our family we do not make it a big deal…it is a family day and a day to show each of us that we are loved by God and by others. We often have a “red” meal and pink milk for dinner. I enjoy making heart shaped cookies for the kids. Thank you for the opprortunity to see this book…it looks simply amazing and will make sure my daughters read it for sure. Be blessed because you are a blessing!

    Smiles, Robin

  7. I am chosen! My teen years were difficult. Not being in the in-crowd was tough, but not having a good male role model was even tougher. I pray for my daughter and nieces to truly feel God’s love and be filled in Him….which is why I love Lynn’s posts!

  8. I loved Valentine’s Day growing up! My mom got us gifts and all the kids exchanged valentines in grade school. High school wasn’t too bad as I always made sure I had a boyfriend (I didn’t say it was healthy, but it made for nice Valentine’s Days!). Now I am very happily married, but my daughter is in 6th grade and I constantly pray for her to make good choices. She recently started having friend problems – the junior high kind – and I wish I could take all the bad away, but I can’t. I encourage her to always be nice and apologize when she needs to, but she has to live it out. I can’t shelter her from life even though I want to so bad! I think Lynn’s book would be a true God-send right about now as I struggle with how to guide my daughter through these emotional years!
