Announcing Vintage Homemaking Week: August 26-30

VINTAGEHomemaking need some fresh new ideas?

Well………How about some old ones instead!

Next week I’ll be hosting over a dozen bloggers for a Vintage Homemaking Week. Topics will include gardening, canning & freezing, baking from scratch, cleaning and organizing, re-finishing old furniture, hospitality, throwing a vintage party, doing retro hairstyles and make-up, old-fashioned mothering advice and much, MUCH more! And, each blogger is giving away a great prize with her post!!!!

Mark your calendar to join us. I’ll try to get the list of all of the bloggers and topics up over the weekend, but now I’m scooting off to meet an online ministry friend for a work/fun coffee date. (We figured out if we each drive 45 minutes we can get together!)

Oh….I can’t hardly wait for this series!!!!! Join us starting Monday!

  1. I just told my sister this week, I want to learn how to can! I’m a stay at home mom who is learning slowly how meeting my families needs is working for The Lord and what great things He can do through it all!

    1. I just started canning vegetables. My husband and I put in a garden at the home we purchased in May and it has been awesome. I learned by doing lots of Google searches and it turns out I’m really good at it. It will be wonderful to learn from someone who has actually canned.

  2. At 73, I about as Vintage as you can get. Sounds like a fun study. Sign me up! I’m so very inspired by Proverbs 31 women. Your youth, words of wisdom, mature faith, honesty, and love of God inspires me everyday. I receive energy and encouragement from each of you. Thank you!

  4. This sounds so awesome & I have recently retired & as others mentioned don’t know where to begin. I’m a bit embarrassed that I don’t know much re: blogging but I’m gonna ask my nephew & niece to show me what I need to do because I don’t want to miss this!

I have read Lisa “What Happens When Wonen Say Yes to God” by Lysa T. & that got my heart stirred. Also read your book, “A Life that Says Welcome” & reading “Honespun Memories for the Heart.” I don’t have little ones around anymore but our first grandchild is due end of this year & our home has provided temporary quarters to ill parents, nieces & nephews pending their recent marriage & home purchase & God has just stirred my passion to listen up & reach out. It’s been a joyous adventure so far & I know not what His Plan is in the future but we are thrilled to be content with change & anxious to see where He is leading us. Who would have think it after 30+ years of Type A behavior. It is not too late! Praise The Lord!! ;-)

Have a wonderful weekend all! So Grateful I could burst at my seams!

  5. How do I view the bloggers vintage ideas? I’ve never seen one before. Is there a link you will post on the 26th? or will be just be here on this website page? I don’t want to miss it! I so enjoy your emails I get. It is so encouraging! Thank you Karen!

  6. Can’t wait – thank you for your faithful service to so many! God uses you to bless others in more ways than you can imagine! xoxo

  7. I’m SO excited about this topic! I’ve long known that I was born into the wrong century. I long for a simpler time. Thanks for providing this week of re-discovery.

  8. I’m so looking forward to Vintage Week. Several of the topics such as gardening and canning are things I’ve been wanting to learn. God has such an awesome sense of humor because I was just thinking and praying about who I could learn these things from because I don’t really know anyone who does them. Thank you Jesus. And thank you Karen for following God’s call to share the things you know with other women like myself.
