photo-31More Michigan snow fell overnight bringing us to almost 14 inches in the last two days. Waking up this morning and looking out my dinning room window to see this blanket of white reminded me of a song I sang a long time ago in church. The words went like this:

I once read in a poem, when snow covers the earth; it hides the world’s flaws and gives nature new birth.

And they say when a man turns from sin to the Lord, that forgiveness, like snow, covers him evermore.

And somewhere it’s snowing; see the soft coming down, as the snowflakes surrender to the hardening ground.

Like the good grace of Jesus that now covers our sin; in the kingdom of heaven it’s snowing again.

photo-33I love the picture that is painted of someone coming to faith in God for the first time and I am reminded of the day that I first placed my trust in Him and the snow of his forgiveness covered me evermore.

May this be a year that we are more intentional in our efforts to pray for those who need His snow white touch. Make it your aim to point others to Him this year.

Don’t you love to see it snow?

Snowy sweet blessings,

  • I do love the beautiful white of the falling snow! I live in Michigan as well and it has definitely been a whirlwind the last few days! My husband flew out to buffalo early, early monday morning and is stuck there now as they have declared a state of emergency! He said that in a few areas there fell 2ft in a very short period of time and that the drifts by his hotel are 6ft deep! So I love this part of the song that says: “Like the good grace of Jesus that now covers our sin; in the kingdom of heaven it’s snowing again”. It paints a very lovely picture of a not so lovely situation for him! I think I will share this song with him….thank you! Lisa

  • Too funny–I, too, sang that song once LONG ago and had totally forgotten about it until I saw the words you had written. Great song! We’re enjoying our existing snow looking out from the inside, since the daytime temps the last couple days here in NW Wisconsin have hovered around -15…SO thankful for a warm home!!!

  • I too live in ‘winter wonderland’ Michigan
with beautiful white fluffy snow blowing all
over causing many drifts on our patio n long
driveway…was reading a devotional during my
morning prayer time about ‘new beginnings’
and then read what you wrote Karen… I looked
out at all the snow n thought all my flaws all my
sins etc etc are covered up by the amazing snow
God has given us n He always has a plan for us
not to hurt us or harm us but to help us…feeling
He has made me know His plan ( thru your writing
Karen ) that once again He has forgiven me once
again buried under all that beautiful
    white fluffy snow…
‘New beginning’ has started tday!!! Praises
    n thank yous!!!

  • I have always loved the snow and have always related it to the covering up of sin and washing it as white as snow. I have never heard the song that you quoted do you have the music or know where I could get the music? I bet it is beautiful. I live in Beautiful Montana. I play the piano for our little church and I also sing solos or duets with my husband. I would really like to see the music to that song Thank you. Take care and GOD bless.

  • I loved this for today!! It snowed Saturday night in Eureka Springs, AR. My boyfriend and I had gone over for my granddaughter’s 1st birthday, and decided to get married!! We’ve been married times before, our last marriages leaving us as widows and widowers. This seemed especially fitting because it reminded me that the snow on our wedding night covered all of our past and gave us a fresh blanket to start our life together. Thank you for the post!!

  • I love to watch the snow falling down and piling up. There is nothing as beautiful as freshly fallen snow free from any footprints. I like the analogy that the snow hides the flaws of the earth. Surely the blood of Jesus that washes us white as snow, covers our flaws from the Father.
