  2. This book sounds like one everyone in my house needs to read! :) My husband laughed when I read- outloud… Learn how to say it when to say or say nothing at all. ( could he be telling me something. Lol well he is jokingly telling me something ). My grandmothers famous words are: you get more bees with honey. I do believe this is true. I believe

  3. Many years ago a school teacher I had in the sixth grade made a powerful statement which made a huge impact on my life…her words to me were “weigh your words before you speak” and many times that simple phrase kept me from saying something out of line or hurtful – I am grateful God placed her in my life to speak those words to me. While she didn’t tell me to “shut-up” or choose sweet words…she told me that my tongue could hurt if I didn’t allow God to speak through me. That is my prayer – that my words will be sweeter than honey and soothing to the soul and ears on which they fall.

  4. I am a grandmother and thought surely by now I would be speaking only grand words of wisdom, laced with love and sweetness. Haha! I am still just me, but trying to work on more thoughtful speech. I keep my grandson who thinks I am a riot…..not exactly what I am going for! Do you think your book might help me??

  5. Psalm 19 comes to mind when I think of the honeycomb. Not only are God’s decrees sweet as honey to our souls, we can ask this: May the words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. The sweet taste of honey is such a sweet treat and to think that our words have have that effect on others gives me great hope. My name Pamella also has the meaning, “Sweet as honey”, knowing this makes me want to impart special words to people whether it be as writer or a mother. I love that comparison of honeycomb being sweet as God’s words can come from our very mouths for His Glory. How sweet it is to taste and see that the Lord is Good.

  6. I read “Keep It Shut” through the P31 Bible Study, and I found it to be so insightful! I am always in the throes of trying not to speak when I shouldn’t, and when I do, I want my words laced with grace. Some days are better than others. I know I’ll probably need to re-read “Keep It Shut” a couple times a year! Thank you for your ministry!

  7. I loved the devotional! It was so interesting about what makes good honey.
We love honey in our house. My husband actually wants to start keeping bees.
    ??????????

  8. I need to adopt “sweet as honey” as my mantra when I talk to my children. I think maybe the verse for today would be a good one for my 6 year old son and I to memorize together, as we are trying to teach him to talk respectfully to us. Our ladies’ Bible study group has chosen Keep it Shut for our next study, and I am very excited about it! Thank you for the good work you do, Karen.

  9. I try to live with a sweet as honey christian, don’t be a sourpuss. I love honey so a very apt illustration for me.

  10. What a perfectly timed word for ME about snark vs grace. I need that daily reminder even with my family. Instead of reacting out of frustration to be able to pause and remember to impart grace!
