TODAY IS THE DAY!!

My newest book, Listen, Love, Repeat: Other-Centered Living in a Self-centered World is now available in stores and online. There is also a DVD Bible study series with workbook that accompanies the book!

Here is a short description:

Newest book by New York Times bestselling author Karen Ehman! Our culture is self-obsessed – in our schedules, relationships, and especially online. (Can you say selfie?) But in this near-narcissism, people are less content than in decades past. Why? Because we forgot the joy that comes from putting others first. Doing so requires us to live alert, listening for “heart drops,” hints from those in our lives who need a helping hand or a generous dose of encouragement. Living alert lifts our own spirits, showing us that blessing others blesses us even more.

Listen, Love, Repeat offers biblical teaching and suggests doable actions that are simple, heart-tugging, sentimental, even sneaky and hilarious. This message:

• Presents scriptural examples of those who lived alert, including Jesus, who noticed those who least expected to be seen.

• Gives creative ideas for showing love to friends and family, and suggests practical ways to reach out to the lonely, the marginalized, the outcast, and the odd duck. Additionally, it helps you comfort the grieving, showing what you can do when you don’t know what to say.

• Provides inspiration for blessing the “necessary people” in your life, those often-overlooked souls who help you get life done every day, and teaches you how to hug a porcupine by genuinely loving the hard-to-love.

Now for the giveaways!

GIVEAWAY to celebrate Karen Ehman's new book Listen, Love, Repeat: Other-Centered Living in a Self-Centered World.

In my Proverbs 31 devotion, I mentioned two items I have in my kitchen–my big red cast iron soup pot and my “scatter kindness” sign.

Well, I am giving away one soup pot, three signs, and 5 copies of the book–that means nine different winners!

The signs are made by a new friend I met when she was in the audience for the filming of the Bible study sessions for the book. You can check out Audrey’s fabulous work at The Cowboy’s Wife Sign Company. (Head to her Facebook page and give her a “like”?)

And now, I’m sharing what often goes in my big red pot–my recipe for cheesy corn chowder!

Cheesy Ham & Corn Chowder

Hands-down my family’s favorite soup. I make it at least two or three times a month and when I do, their friends come running!

In a large pot combine:

4 cups chicken stock (or 4 cups water with bouillon cubes to taste)

4 cups chopped, peeled Yukon Gold potatoes

1 chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped celery

Cook, covered, over medium heat for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Then add:

3 tablespoons butter

1–2 cups finely chopped leftover ham

1 1/2 cups leftover corn

2 cans cream of chicken soup

1 1/2 cups sharp cheddar cheese

Just before serving, add:

8 ounces sour cream.

Thin with a little milk if needed. Stir well. Serves 8–10.

If you’d like to enter to win the soup pot, a “scatter kindness” sign, or a copy of the book, there are two options.

  1. Karen,

I loved Listen, Love & Repeat (haven’t finished it yet) and I felt God calling me or hitting me on the head the night before my friend Kim’s mother’s funeral which was in Birmingham, two 1/2 hours away from where Kim and I live in Atlanta. So I went and was so blessed. Below is my Amazon review. where I shared most of the story. There were some other really special things that happened. Kim was so thrilled to see me and tears immediately appear in her eyes. We chatted for a few minutes (I was only able to get there about 15 minutes before the service) and then she introduced me to her best friend from collage. I really liked her a lot and feel like I had a new friend. I had texted my Forever upline who lives in Birmingham the night before that I was coming to town and we hoped that we would be able to catch up at lunch, depending on how both of our schedules worked out. (Forever is cloud photo storage for life plus 100 years, old media/photo conversion to digital/digital scrapbooking & projects (Forever bought the company that owned the Creative Memories photo technology & artwork). But anyway, it worked out that Fran and I could go to lunch, and Kim’s college friend works in the same building and she suggested I follow her back downtown. As we were leaving the gravesite, I fell into a big hole that was covered with leaves. It hurt ,but not terribly ,and I prayed, “Dear God, please don’t let me bless my friend Kim and then have a broken ankle. So I went downtown. When I got out of my car, I couldn’t put any weight on my foot although it wasn’t swollen.. So I switched from my modest heels to flat shoes and I could walk & was fine the next day. Kim’s friend thought that my friend’s name sounded familiar and that she thought she had her my upline/friend speak. They actually met and indeed that was the case. So my friend and I had a delightful lunch and it was a blessing to catch up with her. I had met her briefly years ago at a CM convention and the spent time with her at the Forever Live conference in Nashville.. So it was great to spend more time with her. I am still filled with joy that my presence meant so much to Kim. I am so thankful for your book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Action Oriented Listen Love & Repeat – Fabulous, November 29, 2016

This review is from: Listen, Love, Repeat: Other-Centered Living in a Self-Centered World (Paperback)

I’m about halfway through this amazing book and couldn’t wait to write a review. I stopped by Sweet Spirit bookstore a few days ago to select some books for Christmas for my son. I have so many books about faith/parenting and many that have been flipped and are waiting to actually be read. So I didn’t really need a book and regretfully had never read any of Karen’s books, although I do have several in my shopping cart. The Listen, Love, Repeat title and graphics were intriguing and I love Ann Voscamp’s books-she endorsed the book on the cover. So I flipped through the book and saw the five recipes (double the recipe, freeze one and take the other to someone else). I actually decided to buy the book because of the recipes. I thought they would be a perfect family project for my son’s Family Life Boy Scout Merit Badge. So I started reading the book on Saturday night and was captivated. I read all the way to church on Sunday, on the way home from church and throughout the day as I had time. So Sunday evening, I was reading the part about how a good friend drove two hours to support Karen during her father-in-law’s funeral and how meaningful that was to Karen. So I decided then that I would drive two 1/2 hours from Atlanta to Birmingham to support my friend Kim during her mother’s funeral. My husband, who hadn’t read the book, reminded me how busy I was and said that Kim would never expect me to spend the entire day traveling to/from/attending the funeral. Of course, that was the point. Let me tell you. Kim was totally blown away by my presence and in fact, sent me a text later and said “Seeing your face was like seeing an angel come down the aisle! What a blessing. Your presence today was a tremendous gift to me. I AM SO GRATEFUL.” I am so grateful to Karen for sharing her personal experience in this fabulous book. Had I not read this book, I would not have gone and would have missed an incredible opportunity to bless my friend. I can’t wait to read the rest of the book. Thank you Karen!!!

  3. I shared the mixer picture. I believe people can make the biggest difference doing the smallest things. I also shared the whole piece you wrote with regard to your one sentence eulogy. I hope people will remember me for loving them no matter what their story is.

  4. I shared the first two because I couldn’t make up my mind which one I loved better. I shared on Pintrest and Twitter!

  7. I just got the book in the mail when we arrived home from our thanksgiving travels. I read a few chapters in bed, and some this morning before getting out of bed! It’s amazing. I told my husband I am not good at gifts. Then I read this, it’s an art to cultivate!!! I’m going to grab a journal and start writing heart drops!

  8. I used the first image with the mixer and posted on facebook. I have been reading your book and it will be the first book we use in our ladies bible study in the new year. I also choose the mixer as I love to bake and share my goodies.

  9. I posted the last image on twitter. I hope I didn’t already enter this! I don’t remember, so if I did just disregard this! Ha! I am happy to share about the book either way! I really loved it and it is going to make a great Christmas gift for a few people!
