Need some quick tips on how to make your laundry room more functionable AND super cute at the same time? For #LoveYourLifeFriday today, Nikki McCullough is taking you on a quick tour through her small, yet cozy, laundry room and giving tips on turning your laundry room into a place that’s a little less daunting and a little more inviting. Here’s Nikki…

Hi friends, we all have to do laundry, after all, right? So why not make this room just a little more enjoyable?

Paint Tips

Have you always wanted to try a paint color that’s a little more bold but just not been brave enough to try it in a room that everyone sees all the time? Your laundry room is a great place to start. I’ve been wanting to try a warm, dark color and decided it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try here! And I love it!  I went with Sherwin Williams Slate Tile.  It’s a dark blue with subtle hints of gray and dark teal when the sun hits it just right.  You can see a sample here!

Space Tips

As you can see in my picture, this room is not terribly big. So I had to think outside of the box to try to make the most of the small space without cluttering the top of the washer and dryer. First, I found this amazing dryer rack for $14.99 at IKEA. It folds up when you don’t need it and is perfect for those items that can’t be put into the dryer.

Storage Tips

I also had to do some serious searching on Pinterest to figure out how to store my ironing board but also add some decorating flare. So I found a great deal on a storage shelf. Not only is it a great place to store my detergent and dryer sheets, but I think it’s pretty cute! And you can add decorations that fit your personality on the top of the shelf (yes, those pretty glass jars filled with detergent and clothes pins are literally just for décor).

We all have the same laundry room monster that eats the socks, right? Well, I decided to use this wire basket to catch those strays in hopes that someday we’ll find their mates! And because of my storage shelf that hangs on the wall, this is the only thing I have to keep on top of the dryer.  I love no clutter!

Style Tips

Finally, add your OWN personality and decorating style and chose a rug, wall art, or fun laundry bin to complete your look. While I still don’t LOVE doing laundry, I certainly enjoy it more now that I ever have.

  1. Looks great! You have a lot of space compared to mine. I have no basement storage in my tri-level, so a lot of my storage goes into the laundry room or garage space. I literally do not have a wall I could even attempt to do this with. The only thing I could do would be to change the wall color and re-tile the floor…..lol.
